First birthday parties are a real treat and so much fun! Check out my money-saving, DIY Cookie Monster Party tips!
I know that turning one is a wonderful milestone, but it’s also a reality check for most moms that their sweet little babies are growing up! The great thing about these milestones is that we get to celebrate them with our family and friends! One year birthday parties are a big deal in my opinion! Usually parties that are a big deal, require big money! Well, not for me because I saved tons of money by doing all of the decorating, planning, and cooking myself!
As I mentioned before, the centerpieces set the tone for any party, so I like to start with that! For these centerpieces, I used empty Gerber Graduate snack cans as the base. We keep SEVERAL of these cans on hand, so I often use them in my craft projects!
I simply spray painted the cans blue and placed a foam block in each one to hold the cutouts. For the cutouts, I printed these images from my computer on white stock paper and to give the centerpieces some extra “flair,” I tied polka dot burlap ribbon around the base and added crinkly brown paper!
For the banners, I cut out triangles from colored stock paper and used craft twine to form the banner. I glued a few cookie cutouts on some of the triangles to tie in the Cookie Monster theme!
I wanted a cute container to hold some of the snacks, so I ordered these royal blue boxes from Amazon and attached the wiggly eyeballs to resemble Cookie Monster!
Here are a few more pics of Caden’s special day! I hope you found some inspiration for you next party!

Hello! Please help! I love your DIY ideas. My daughter’s Cookie Monster bday is in one month. I love the center pieces. Can you tell me where I can get the “cookie” and “Cookie Monster” cutouts?
Are those the same cookie cutouts you used for the banner?
Where did you buy the eyes for the royal blue snack boxed? Michaels maybe?
And plzzzz where can I find those party hats?
I could really use your help.
Thank you

Hi! For the cutouts, I just Googled Cookie Monster and a chocolate chip cookie and saved the image. I printed it on a piece of white cardstock paper that I got from Michael’s. I used those same cutouts for the banner too! I got the eyes off Amazon. Here’s the exact link: https://www.amazon.com/DECORA-Googly-Wiggle-Self-Adhesive-Decorations/dp/B06XPKS2JD/ref=as_sl_pc_qf_sp_asin_til?tag=beautifulea05-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=f4ff90188e30b2f5e4aee49821fe74a8&creativeASIN=B06XPKS2JD
I got the party hats from an Etsy shop. Here’s the link to her store: https://www.etsy.com/people/kimberlysfoamparty

Did you take the paper off the can or you just sprayed over the top of it as well……If you took the paper off what is the best way to get it off as clean as possible?
Andy says
Hi! I didn’t take the paper off the can. I just spray painted over it and I applied about 2 coats. Thanks for stopping by!
