Motherhood is hard. Of course, there are many beautiful, special moments that make being a mother completely worth it, but some days can be very challenging. On top of the anxiety created by COVID-19, moms are now taking on more roles, including as teachers, daycare providers, coaches, playmates, short-order cooks or chefs, and more. I think it’s safe to say that us moms could use a little break!
To help make life just a little bit easier, here are a few quick, no-stress solutions to those common toddler problems!
Problem 1: The kids keep complaining about not being able to eat out.
Solution: Change their dining location
For some reason, food seems to taste better when the kids are eating it outside versus at the dinner table! And of course, their favorite meal of choice is cereal! Cereal can be a part of a perfectly acceptable meal whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack. Malt-O-Meal cereal is one of our favorite choices because it’s super affordable and super tasty.
They also come in over 30 delicious varieties. Our favorites are Tootie Fruities® and Berry Colossal Crunch®. I try to make it a habit of having dinner picnics, or eating on the patio, or enjoying a bowl right on the front porch!
Problem 2: The kids keep asking for new toys…. even though they have a ton of toys stashed everywhere in their room.
Solution: Make your own toys.
Kids are always after the latest toys, but it’s simply impossible, and expensive, to keep up with all of their demands. A great compromise is to encourage them to make their own toys. This will not only help them to think outside of the box, but it would also make them appreciate the toys they already have. This activity is also a great way for parents to get involved and interact with the kids
Problem 3: The kids are asking for juice and soda every hour.
Solution: Offer them fruit-flavored water.
If your family is anything like mine, then you’re probably aware of the water vs. juice/soda war! Lol! Don’t get me wrong, I love a nice cold glass of juice just like anyone else, but my kids like to go overboard! If allowed, they will drink an entire gallon of juice or soda in one day! As a healthier alternative, I like to add fresh or frozen fruit to their water, along with a fun straw. The fruit gives it just the right amount of sweetness and lots of flavor!
Problem 4: The kids are getting tired of the same old snacks.
Solution: Keep snack time creative by making a fun snack mix.
Since my kids love Malt-O-Meal cereal, I like to find creative ways to incorporate it into a snack recipe. One of their favorite snacks includes the Tootie Fruities® and the Berry Colossal Crunch® mixed with a serving of popcorn. I have to admit that it’s one of my favorite snacks too!
I hope that these easy solutions help to provide you with a little relief because being a mom is definitely not an easy task!
